  1. Tiny animal colonies on so much of the seaweed
    Quality
    40%
Love the flavour of dulse and the first pack I had fom Cornish was perfect and clean. Every one I've had since has some 'sea mat' (confirmed by the company by photograph) which are tiny creatures living in a colony on the dulse leaves. It looks like grey textured stuff, each 'cell' contains one zooid creature. One pack also had a tiny sea snail in it. (I asked the company about the grey stuff and they replaced the pack for me but as I say every packet has some sea mat, some packets I've lost between a fifth and a quarter of the seaweed cutting off the bits with it on.)
Definitely not a vegetarian product because of this; they are impossible to remove except by cutting the piece of seaweed they are attached to off and composting it, quite time consuming and I no longer want to snack from the packet. It's not the same as buying for example, an organic cauliflower and finding caterpillars on it which are still alive and can be taken off easily and gently and released.
I showed non-vegetarian friends and they thought it was gross too.
Not sure if it's a quality control issue and I can't compare this to other brands as I haven't as yet tried any but won't be buying this brand of dulse again sadly.
Disappointing as the clean bits are very tasty.
